Hi all, got back late last night from a very hard week at Mirror pool, the weather was brigth sunny days and really cold nights up until weds and then it just rained and rained, at one time we had hail stones for about 20mins the ground looked liked it had been snowing.

Fish wise we had 5 fish between us for the week, my mate had a pb 48-08 mirror  I had fish of 27-08, 44, 49, and a new pb 55-02 all mirrors so I am well made up

Brian.

17th may trip continued the water was gin clear , the clearest the bailif could remember, around one side of the lake a path way is elevated high above the lake a great veiwing spot, but to my horror we could clearly see some of the drops doug had done with pellet only rod, even though doug had a fish like this i felt it was a one off?.we had taken with us 3 gallon of maggots, partly for a bit of course fishing and to create a bit of interest over the carp baits,i made a rig from 3 floating rubber grubs and 2 sinking tied to a cotton hair it wharfted about just write ,plus 5oz inline lead, tuesday morning 2 fish to me a 34lb 4oz m and a 6lb 10oz tench ,we took turns on 1st choice of spot,,are confidence rose, all the remaining fish fell to the maggot rig, doug had a49lb 6oz m pb 38lb 80z m 32lb 40z m and a36lb 8oz common pb , i had a 50lb 8oz m friday teatime, the takes were well spread through out the week,we both lost 2 fish each.being a stubbon old git i tried for 3 nights and 3 days on the spot i had the 55 with boilies, with out a touch, its the sort of water whare you dont know ware you next take is comming from, but they do ,all in all a week ware are plans worked, they have to sometimes i suppose , ieven had one stalking down the shallow end a 25lb 80z common .this water can make your brain ache a bit, you dont get as much action as les quis but ,most of you boys would like it ,we got what we went for pbs and quilaty fish.

my trip ot mirror pool 17 may....i phoned the owner of the lake the wednesday, before we left, for a quick chat, he strongly advised us to take sweetcorn and said thats what everybody is catching on,i new they had some big hits on corn before, but everyone using it, i wasnt convinced,we got to dover and had to wait nearly 2 hours as our ferry had been cancelled for some reason,we knew the biggest fish in the lake hadnt been out this year and joked its bound to have been caught the week before we get there it comes out betwwe 70 73. little did we know as we were driving of the ferry in france it was being landed,at 70lb 8oz,we got there very early so we could see the oter anglers, on arriving the guy who had just had the 70 was buzzing,he had caught nothing up till wednesday then had a 9lb 6oz tench a37lb m a 63lb m then the 70,his mates had pbs, all on corn he said weve used loads, aquick chat to the others they had 14 fish betwwen the 4 of them 11 on corn, then one of them said we have put amassive bed of boilies out in the middle if you want to fish off that ,i felt we were in the worst possible situation, bait scatterd all arond the lake.we decided not to put much bait in and fish for one bite at a time ,the first fish came 9.15 sunday mornig we had 2 sacks of their pellet and the fish a35lb 12oz grassie took 2 small plastic pellets.1st pb to doug,we were using a bait boat the first time ive used one ,but i new i would need as much help as possible. up until sunday evenig all my bait application had been via the bait boat small amounts but i decided to throw buy hand cor and pellet around a big bush, then dropped the hook bait on its own from the boat , 10.55 i had a new personal best at 55lb 4oz mirror, ps got to out i will finish this later
