Rang Lee prior to the off and he kindly purchased all the booze n fags we`d asked for from the ferry duty free.............quality, thanks Lee :thumbsdown_anim:
After a good look round, we had the draw and I came out last, picked Swim 14 which is a corner swim not far from the lodge. In each of the swims, a set of the rules are present.
Plotted up, got the rods out (bags only) and started assessing whats out in front of me. I opted for a standard bottom bait approach now I knew what I was fishing over. 15mm bottom bait, tipped with artificial glowcorn maize of left hand rod, double 16mm bottom baits to middle road & single 18mm bottom bait topped with 14mm pop up fished snowman style.
Wind was easing into my corner so hade a wade along margin with polaroids on and picked myself a couple of nice, clean gravel spots in approx 7ft of water just off the margin drop off, either side of a large margin weed bed. If you look closely you can see 2 of my bags as markers. Other rod was cast into bottom corner of lake (I had to wade out to get to cast there). At night I hung my Osprey bobbins from the trees in order to be able to see where to cast.

First night/morning had 3 fish, biggest 29lb.

Sunday Night / Monday morning had another 3 fish, biggest, 32.10.

Weather took a turn for the worse following the scorching heat of Sat & Sun. Gale force winds, driving wind and my margin spots adjacent to the weed bed just died. After some searching around with marker in front of me, settled for an open water area, a deep gully behind a bar. The float was reading approx. 17ft on top of the bar, yet 6 ft behind the bar, the float was reading 38ft. Had a chat with Mel and he kindly bought the boat over and we set off out there with our fishfinder/echo we had bought with us, to map the bottom out.
By this time, Lee had kindly permitted use of a 4th rod + boat and this was offered to all 6 of us around the lake. Cheers Lee, you know my thoughts on it.

After perservering with the weather, etc + load of zig banter from the Fudge (and naturally a load of beer n fags) it was`nt until the Thursday that I had my next fish, 31.4, to the open water spot (bottom of the bar).
As mentioned before, defo a thinking mans water & one we will be returning to hopefully in 2010 (we`re all booked up for next year).
Our thanks go to Lee & Mel who looked after us very well all week and were very approachable on any matter :thumbsup_anim:
Cheers Crystal, see you again in the future

i really enjoyed it last week, i think considering how the weather was it fished very well.
The final count was 82 fish biggest 37.12
10 x 30's
35 x 20's
37 x doubles
It fished very well albeit a little stop/start due to the inclement weather, etc.
All in all, very respectable totals for 6 anglers, thanks again for a top week :thumbsup_anim:
ps - we even forgot the 1/4 crate of stella we left in the fridge :thumbsdown_anim:

Flatty, enough said, yam is a coooooornt!
Just back at work, 9 fish from 11 takes, 32.10, 31.4, 29, 25, 23, 21 & 3 doubles.
Lad I fished with (Long Hair Dave) had 14 fish, 37.10, 32 & 30 common and others.
All in all used, 50kg of pellet, 10kg of Rosehip, 15kg of CC Moore, 10kg T n M & 20kg of R n R between the 2 of us. Nothing to the Zigs, had then all on standard bottom baits, snowman style with various bits n pieces.
A very enjoyable week, had 6 fish by Sunday night, then the weather turned + the fishing in my swim died. Storm force winds, torrential rains, clear skies, etc resulted in next fish Thursday afternoon, once the open water spot started producing to the constant week long baiting.
Had started off only fishing nights (and havin a few beers & social during day), but by the Wednesday was fishing full time.
Well looked after by Lee & Mel throughout the week, considerable courtesy extended to me & Long Hair Dave in relation to sensible use of the rules, etc.
Nice grub, not having to reel in for breakfasts......quality :thumbsup_anim:
A proper deep puddle, had 38ft of water in front of me to contend with, fishing the gully behind the bar, defo a thinking mans water and im sure it`ll be a huge success as the years go by and the fish pile on the weight (judging by the amount of naturals in the lake in conjunction with the anglers baits, etc).

Could be wrong but I doubt if he's banged up already, these things take time.
That's probably his dads standard answer to all the phone calls he gets.
I spoke to my dad and he said the same, he isnt going to put his own son in sh*t is he???
All due respect I wouldnt unless he done something major to harm someone, butthen id expect him to face up to what he has done!
