The 27 fish in the lake must be trained by Andy McNabb, there had been 9 out the previous week with an average weight of 41lb,so they where sulking under the 14ft damm wall and where not for moving.
The place is great really lovley but by the end of the week we where minging(Les does spoil you ,showers food etc)
The coots and ducks where a night mare diving in 6ft of water poor Miles had a screamer on the last morning rod tip pulling right round for a duck hooked clean in the top beak(at least he knew his rig worked)
Matt Hayes is a lovley guy pleasure to talk too, said it was the hardest weeks Carping he had ever done.
A different experience dont know if i would do it again.
Forgot to mention losing bivvy bag from roof rack on way to ferry, lucky to get it back a few tears and a bent pole but it lasted the week in some shitty east winds and rain and Somme like mud.
Glad to have fished one of the big fish venues.

It's been a while since I fished it but all my successes came from watching the water every morning at first light for signs of rolling fish. Once I saw exactly where the fish were showing I made a note of it for that evening and would position the hook baits before dark on the assumption that the fish would return the following morning, which they very often did unless the conditions changed. The other "edge" you may have is to use washed out baits or baits with very little flavour and to cast to spots which are as far away from any noisy anglers as you can find. The fish are very line shy and fluoro, pinned down will help as well as fluoro hook links.
The biggest piece of advice that I can give you is to watch and listen to the water at all times. They will give themselves away. Be lucky.

I was on the syndicate in 2000 so my tactics will now be well out of date but you will thoroughly enjoy it. It is a beautiful setting with soem cracking fish. No matter what flack Rob gets, he knows how to looke after his fish and I think that anglers fishing it for a week and putting in some bait during the spring can only benefit the fish. Up until now anglers have only had two days at a time so no-one puts in any bait because they haven't got the time to wait for the fish to find it. These are bloody big fish and I personally would set the traps on day one with plenty of bait and then just keep putting the rods back on the same spots until the fish arrive. The old "disappearing food syndrome" should work and the big fish are likely to come at the end of the week as the food diminishes.
I had success by using light running leads, fluoro hook-links and slack lines because at the time no-one else was doing it.
My season produced plenty of carp including 18 thirties and one forty. (5 of the thirties came on my first weekend)
Relax and enjoy. You won't regret it.
