I felt really bad about calling him as well he was off stalking and working for his fish.

Me just chuck it out and drink some more.

me and Mike pulled 15 and 18 respectively on May 17th trip.
When we arrived we had a quick look round, not much point in checking out all the swims as we knew we were going to have to take what was left.
We stood in the hangar swims, didnt look like they had been fished week before, possibly due to the algae bloom and the Elf not performing the week before, but we had inside info that the Elf was coming back on song (cheers Joss).
I said to Mike there and then " we will end up in these swims mate - just a hunch".

Well to cut a long story short, me and Mike were soon pushing our kit round to 1st (me) and 2nd (Mike) Hangar, very good for the social, as they are very close.

Hookbaits were placed at 35 - 40 yds and i had one down the inside on the right.
No action before tea, back after tea, re-cast, more bait and kick back.
1st night Mike had 3 doubles, good start even though nothing big was caught, then in the morning i landed a 33 on the right hand rod...now thats more llike it.

Anyway, i caught steadily all week, mostly 20's and 30's with Mike on pest control, getting a bit frustrated with the doubles.

One thing to watch in these swims - i found that every fish i hooked, no matter which rod, all kited hard right and into the bank, a lot of fish were landed with bullying tactics, not normally how i like to catch but needs must.
It was a case of ' if i didnt give em some stick - they were in the snags and either off or tethered, but if i did, i always had the chance of landing it even though risking a hook pull or 2'.

Mike had the same problem in Hangar 2 and the amount of times my rods were wiped out doesnt bare thinking about - not to much of a probem between mates though....
i tried to overcome it by using backleads but couldnt drop them in close enough because of the marginal weed, but it did help a little.

All in all a very good week, thoroughly enjoyed it, i ended up with 16 fish:
2 x doubles
8 x 20's
5 x 30's
1 x 40 (PB)

One of the 30's was on the Zig, fishing at about 5ft, had another aborted take on this also.
well worth a shout if the currant bun is out

Mike had 12 fish, mostly doubles, a few 20's and the icing was a 51 big fat pog.

Great week had by all, top bunch of blokes, top grub (cheers Andy and Richie).

Highlights had to be Andy's endless tales of debauchery in various car parks up and down the country and
Taff getting a double hook-up on the last night...Guuuy!!...Guuuuuyyyy!...GUUUUUUUYYYYYYY YA COOOORNT give me hand!!!

roll on 2010

Cracking write up fella.

I fished this from Thursday onwards with the Flatliner Sept 16 - 23 trip
The boundaries you mention are critical, although it seems your close together, theres plenty of room.
Drafty was always encroaching into my swim area, but hey I returned the favour and ultimately we had a spot going together :thumbsup_anim:

fished this swim 21st april had arealy good week 33 fish 3 40s 7 30s 8 20s plus 2 cats ,doubles.I drew 17 so to get this swim i was more than happy to say the the least, I had never fished the hanger bank before, but what surprised me was fishing open water i felt my baits were as good a spot as the bear , bailif, middle hanger,so you havent the tasty tree line like bear , bailif , but open water you feel with agood a chance as anyone.I felt at any time you could catch alump, sometimes at one end of the lake you dont always feel like this .but middle of lake for aweeks fishing always worth a crack,if struggling i feel your a bit limted for options, i was fishing 2rods halfway across ,one rod 2oclock 35 yds approx, all week not once did i bring any weed etc the whole swim was very clean, the only down side to this swim you need to be friends with middle hanger as boundarys on these swims are very confusing, also on bad week you might feel bear , bailif are nicking some of your fish, good swim give it a go .

:thumbsup_anim: Went out on 29th July with several mates inc Tuftytowers & Rob. The draw went fairly well for most & was as follows:-

Rob no2 (Swapped with Del. He`s had unlucky year so Rob felt that as he went to LQ earlier in the year he would let Del have his draw. Fair play to Rob )
Tuftytowers no5
I drew no6
Paul no13
Del no 14
Graham no17

Del chose Next to Coypu, Tufty chose Mid Hanger, I chose 1st Hanger, Paul chose Sexy`s, Rob chose No Carp Corner & Graham chose The Beach (on The Old) All in all everybody were happy. Tufty & i had discussed the Hanger Bank as a possibility if we both came out early, :D Del fished with Mark (one of his mates who came along) as he was in The Shallows. Rob & Graham were opposite each other so they could command a good veiw of the lake & watch what was happening. Paul decided on Sexy`s as he had fished this peg before & was also up for a good social with Tufty & I should it be needed.

Sat was a chuck it & chance it type of day as we were all knacked, <_< Paul Had a 16lb`er within 4mins of casting out his rod. Here we go i thought.

Early night on the cards ready for Sunday. That was not to be as Tufty 2 fish to 31lb  & Paul had a couple of doubles too. None for me as yet!!

Sunday came & went with Paul again catching several doubles. We all decided on baiting a line & put some in just before tea. That night Tufty caght a 21lb`er, & just before breakfast i had my 1st on the bank, Not huge at 14.07lb but very welcome. That night Tufty had a 35lb`er, A cracking fish & Paul carried on catching too. We all continued baiting little & often, 100 - 150 baits every 1hr - 1 1/2 hr which was the plan until things picked up. Only baiting during the night when we caught fish, Or when my bladder told me!!

Tues morning carried on as the previous with 17.07lb mirror & a 21.07 mirror early afternoon. That evening saw my first pb at 27lb, a nice mirror & feeling very pleased at this point. More bait went!!

Weds saw things picking up & i had a 15.10lb again before breakfast. This was obviously a feeding time. Later that afternoon i had a 18lb mirror followed by another pb mirror at 29.12lb, I`m now thinking this trip is getting better!! Still baiting up the line with the other lads there were obvious signs of fish all over the place. That night Tufty had another one & Paul dropped a few  but landed a nice 40lb cat, Not that keen on catching a cat but after the scrap that it put up i think he is now SOLD.

Thursday was a strange day with not very many signs of carp, But the weather was pretty awfull. In the afternoon the sun came out & the fosh started showing again, Superb!! That evening we baited up again & waited. At about 8pm i had a drop back which i hit. The fosh kited left & started to come into the bank, I managed to control it & after several agonising minutes it was in the net. After weighing she turned out to be Dippy at 55.02lb, <_<

Now at this point i did`nt know whether to piss myself or jump in. I decided not to do either but asked Tufty & paul to sort out the photos. More bait & time for some wine to celebrate. Can it get any better than this i thought. Yes it could & in the early hours i had a pb common at 24.06lb, Feck this is good!!!!!

Friday saw Paul land a 39.08lb mirror, His biggest for the week & what a week!! But it still got better as that evening i caught another pb common at 34.04lb, :D I`m now like a dog who`s just found his bollocks for the 1st time!! More bait went in on the usuall spots & the rods back out for that night. At 2am another screamer which turned out to be 29.04lb mirror & 2hrs later a 18lb common.

I woke at 6am Saturday & realised that this was the end of a special week for me, After only taking 2 fosh last year for the whole week my catch rate had certainly improved. 14 fosh for the week 1- 50lb 1- 30lb 5- 20lb & 7 doulbes. Plus i broke my pb 5 Times.

I kept things very simple this year & changed my hooklink everytime i had a fosh. I changed the hook if i felt that it was getting dull even if i had not caught on it. But the main thing was baiting, Little & often until the fosh arrived & you DO know when they have arrived!! Hard work but well worth it.

A fantastic week topped by the company of Tufty & Paul who landed all the fosh between them. Thanks Fella`s.

Special thanks to our Budday`s Joss & Guy for supplying our bait, Which i WILL continue to use both home & abroad. If your NOT on Poachers, GOOD, Cause that means there`s more for Me!!!

Here are the comments from the old website.

4. 1st Hanger

Comment: Small gravel patch about 30yds out right in front of swim, tree to right of swim get in water and place bait(bailiffs fish to far side of tree from their swim)Weed beds
on either side of gravel patch, there are several going right out into Bears swim.

Comment: Found those Colin but had my fish last time whacking it out slightly to the right sure I was getting towards the end of the shallows and right of bailiffs. Fish were there. Few gravel patches.

Comment: Would be on my 'preferred' list of swims but not as high as middle hanger - there’s more room in that swim.

Comment: Always been on mine I have seen this one produce. Andy had a few in September Stax, 3 X 40 in just over the hour!
