Great to hear your knee is on the mend now big tim.
I would also like to pass on my thanks to the Baliffs Paul & Martin who went out of their way to ensure that you were able to get to the doctors & sort your knee, their help ensured you could fish for 4 of the 7 days.
It was a pleasure to let you fish my swim(shed) for 2 days I'm sure anyone else would have done the same.
To both bag a 50 on our 1st trip was a bit special.
Hi to all the lads on the 5th July trip, hope to meet up again someday.
Big Pete.

I am like you Tim, I go for number of runs I can get out of a fishery BUT I don't mean fishign waters like the Bay lake, to me 10 to 30 fish a week is a bit of fun, rather than having a single 50 for the week, each to there own though.

One of them from The Bear who had about 35 fish for the week including about 9 40's. The other 50 was a common from No Carp Corner on the Old. I know the average fish size was great but being pretty new to the carp game I suppose numbers of fish is what I'm after at the moment. Those of you that have been to LQ a lot and have caught on a regular basis obviously are now looking for the bigger lumps perhaps rather than a lot of 'smaller' fish. I have yet to get that out of my system. To me a 20 pounder is still a big lump.

5 fish for the week including a 40 and a 50. Not a bad average Tim :thumbsup_anim:

Interesting comment about arriving at 10.30 for the coach, thats what we normally do, have a few beers in the car park with the others on the trip and gets the holiday off to a good start. I find the time flies by in the car park. Then again, one stubby lager and I'm unconscious til the coach turns up :thumbsup_anim:

Drew out 18 on the coach so not great there but not to worry. Arrived, had a look about and got to choose next to gate.

I drew out 18 after being the 2nd one to draw last July peed me right off as you have to have whats left, but apart from the injury Tim sounds like your trip wernt that bad what with having a 50lber I have been going to LQ 11 years and still waiting for that fish over the magical 50lb only had them to 46lb not that im complaining...

Im hoping to put this all behind me though in 2 weeks friday hopefully end up with more then 2 fish and better then drawing 18 like last year :thumbsup_anim:

Good angling matey .. :thumbsup_anim:

Shame about the injury, sounds like you were in a right old state:(
On the positive side though you still managed to catch some great fish :thumbsup_anim:

Top marks for Paul & Martin :thumbsup_anim:

Bad start that Tim but stilla result a 50 as well, Better than I did out of there last year when it was a total struggle, good having a mate nearby to help out though. It is a extremely good water, where PB seem to be the norm. Hope you get on next year, I would leave the early weeks alone though as people seem to struggle then! and it is a long expensive trip to struggle!

Mixed week for me personally. Arrived at 10.30 for the coach and it arrived at 12.45 so a bit of a wait. Have learnt lesson on that one although when you are waiting to leave for your hols it's hard not to go. Drew out 18 on the coach so not great there but not to worry. Arrived, had a look about and got to choose next to gate. Managed to stretch ligaments in my right knee so unable to fish properly for the weekend and not at all on Monday and Tuesday. Did however manage to land a 53lb Mirror on Sunday evening which fell to Poachers RnR. Started fishing again on Wednesday complete with knee brace which cost £100 (sob sob) but no luck. Thursday my mate Pete on the Shed offered me the chance to fish one rod with him (he had a cracking week with 22 fish, 1,50 2 40's and 2 30's) and landed a 23lb common. Then back to NTG for the night and landed a 20.08 Mirror in the evening. Nothing again on Friday but managed a 34.08 and 44.08 mirrors again using the one rod in the shed (good old Pete) on Saturday morning before the coach arrived. Although only 5 fish I was not too upset as I was unable to build the swim properly due to the knee. Going round to bait up was a big no no and had to rely on the old catty. I must add that without the help of Paul and Martin the bailiffs for the week I would have been totally buggered. They got me to the doctors, picked up the brace the next day for me, arranged to have me picked up in the van to save me hobbling to meals, gave me invaluable advice on where to fish in the swim etc. If all the bailiffs are up to job as these two clearly are then happy days. I send sincere thanks to those two, they deserve praise indeed. All in all a good trip, I shall certainly re visit again next year if I can pick up a cancellation and hopefully fully fit and with a slightly better draw may even bag up myself. Finally thanks to all on the web site for their advise which was of great help. Here's till next year.

Big Tim

Your right about opinions vary.
I take one type of bait, use fecking big hooks, 3oz semi-fixed leads, and 9" nylon hooklengths. I don't go in for pop ups or fancy rigs.
Talk to others and they'll take an array of baits and will be using all sorts of fancy things.
I don't think anyone is right or wrong, it's just a case what you feel confident with :thumbsup_anim:

look forward to meeting you too big pete. perhaps we can learn off each other. The other blokes on the site seem more than helpful. Going to a new venue abroad can be daunting on the first time because info you get from the owners and past fishers can sometimes be contradictory so gleaning the best info can be hard. No offence meant to anyone here as opinions are bound to vary. I appreciate the advise I've been given

Big Tim
Looking forward to meeting you on 5th July trip. It will also be my ist trip to LQ & I am getting sooooo excited.
Can't sleep at night just keep dreaming of Big Carp!!!
The Questions you have asked about bait & end tackle have been a help to me so thanks!!
5th July can't come quick enough so see you & all the other guys on the trip.
I'm an oldie at 50 & a late starter to carp fishing so I hope I am not out of my depth with all the experts.

good bait advice thanks to all, I'll be in touch nearer the time poacher, I,m set on coated braid as opposed to mono, I'm sure different people have different ideas on that and no doubt I will need to mesh in July.

Yes take some mesh, the chats can be annoying but they're nothing to worry about. It's not difficult to mesh up and the carp don't seem to notice it, so why not?
I use nylon hooklengths myself, never felt the need to try anything else.
