If you catch loads of fish the law of averages say that sooner or later you'll catch a biggun.
So if you encourage a large shoal into your swim then that's what you might experience.
You could stick it out and hope that the bigger fish will eventually oust out the smaller ones or you could fish off the baited area hoping that's where the bigger ones are sitting back and letting the younger fish compete.
Or you could bait up so that you don't encourage a large shoal and hope that the bigger fish may be solitary fish.
Thing is these are all theories and everyone will have their own and there's nothing to say the fish will conform.
You could get lucky and catch monster after monster or similarly you could catch bugger all.
Or you could wait all week for a fish of a lifetime only to find it falls off at the net
And as we all know that's fishing :thumbsup_anim:

i'm not so sure aboutthe luck thing with bigger fish - you do find some people catch more than others on the same bait and the same lake - must be something in it....

No, we used to use Sting all the time on our club water and caught loads of fish on it. Couldn't get a take on Source at all. Smelt similar but definately different.

When that buzzer screams I want the excitement, if it going off every half an hour I find it all become rather mechanical.

Dead right.................although I had tonnes of fun on the Bay and it was a great insight into French Carping, I'm doing the main lakes next year for that very reason......that the next screamer could well be a 60lb Common!!!!

You probably right but does it matter if the fish are not in your swim in numbers?
I'd rather catch a couple of good fish a day rather than loads of smaller ones.

Don't get me wrong I'm grateful for any fish, I'm just trying to state my preference. :thumbsup_anim:

None of the Les conmplex is particularly hard fishing, all swims produce on there day, I still personnally believe the fish are in your swim in numbers or NOT, and shoot myself in the foot, I still think a 50 is a lucky fish out of there :thumbsup_anim: cause your be doing nothing different to the bloke next door.
