This is the last one posted on there site,
DRAFTY'S BLOG - CATCH REPORT
WEEK COMMENCING SATURDAY 2nd JULY 2011
NUMBER OF ANGLERS 6
TOTAL FISH CAUGHT 43
30lb 35lb 7
35lb 40lb 8
40lb 45lb 3
45lb+ 1
TOTAL FISH WEIGHT 1363lb
AVERAGE FISH WEIGHT 32lb
BEST MIRROR 56lb 08oz
BEST COMMON 37lb
The constant high pressure remained all week with the odd bit of rain. The number of fish caught this week was down but some good upper thirties and forties were landed with a fine 56lb mirror being the biggest of the week.
The patches of weed mainly in front of swims 2,3 and 4 are now at there thickest due to the very hot conditions and the clarity of the water. Some good carp are being taken in and around the weed at the moment, but we are seeing an increasing amount of fish being hooked but not landed due to the lead not releasing on the take,or anglers not giving the fish time to free itself from the weed. So please look to drop the lead on the take if you are fishing around the weed. We are averaging around 40 fish a week being hooked and not landed,we can all do our best to change that and get even more carp on the bank.

CRYSTAL WATERS – NEWS BULLETIN
Well the 2011 season is nearly upon us and the Crystal team think this year is going to be our best yet.We have just finished our trip out to the lake as a work party and I can tell you the lake looks stunning. Lee Papper, the lake’s owner, will be doing a newsletter shortly to tell you all about that.Last season we sent out a questionnaire to each of our customers that fished the lake. We had a fantastic response with over 80% of the questionnaires being sent back to us. Congratulations to the three winners whose questionnaire was randomly picked out and who each won a case of red wine. We have looked at all the points that our customers have raised with us on how we can improve our service to you. One of the issues was the lack of general information available to you regarding the lake itself and catch reports. Therefore due to customer request, this year we will be doing a weekly bulletin on the Crystal Waters website giving our customers up-to-date news about fishing conditions, weather, rigs, tactics, bait and most importantly a weekly catch report. I must stress that all catch reports are only a guide of the carp being caught at the lake as we at Crystal Waters know only too well that carp fishing ability comes at all levels from the very experienced to the angler that may well be on his or her first French trip, so these reports will be a reflection of anglers across the board. This new and exciting look at the lake and what’s going on will be available shortly on our weekly bulletin, in the meantime let me tell you a little about the Crystal Waters team and what fishing experience you are likely to encounter. The lake is 25 acres in size and is set in a tranquil tree lined 35 acre complex in Sens, within the burgundy region of France.Once a thriving water sports park, the lake was purchased with one purpose in mind and that was to open it as a commercial carp fishery. After a tremendous amount of hard work the lake finally opened some four years ago. We inherited a large stock of original carp, mainly mirrors, that the previous owner had stocked prior to turning it later into a water park. We have also had our own stocking program going on for the last 4 years, introducing over 3 tonnes of mirrors and commons, to the original 2 tonnes we inherited from the original owner. The mirrors are the fast growing bullen strain, the same strain which can be found at Rainbow. The carp are averaging between 4 and 7 pounds each year - an excellent growth rate. We also have a winter feeding program in which we feed the lake with maize and fresh boilie. The lake has two large islands one of which is surrounded by lillies in the summer months. We have 16 swims but only allow 10 anglers at any one time. The lake bed consists of gravel, silt and the odd weed bed - a real mixed bag. You will find plateaus, shelfs, ridges and flat areas so a good marker rod and reel is a must. Find the spots and you will find the fish. The depths range from 4 feet to 22 feet. The margins are very deep, some falling to over 10 feet just a yard or two out. The lake is surrounded by mature trees and hedge rows and there is vehicular access to all swims. The swims are gravel based apart from swim numbers 3, 4, 9 and 10 which are grassed. Each swim comes with plenty of space - you can erect a two man bivvy in each swim should you need to. Each swim is numbered and Crystal Waters will provide you with a large unhooking mat and a guest chair for Drive & Tucker and Full packages only. The lake entrance is kept locked and we have a state of the art security system which monitors the lake 24 hours a day, along with local police who regularly visit and check the fishery adding to your peace of mind. The lake record at this moment stands at 67lb - a stunning dark mirror and our biggest common to date stands at 44lb. We are confident that this season we will see our first 70lb mirror. We have 3 known mirrors over 60lb with 50lb+ and 40lb+ carp waiting for your arrival. We estimate we have over 5 tonnes of hard fighting carp in the lake. There are currently 8 bailiffs at Crystal Waters headed up by Keith Stanley aka Backdraft. Keith comes with a wealth of experience and a personality to match. All the bailiffs have been together since the opening of the lake and we work on a rotation basis. We have many years of carp fishing experience between us and we are there for you 24 hours a day when you are on the fishery.Bait boats may be used at Crystal Waters but only for bait delivery - not for sending out your rigs. All particles, plastic baits and shelf life boilies are banned at Crystal Waters - fresh boilies only please. Most fresh boilies will work at Crystal Waters but last year over 70% of all fish caught fell to Crystal Waters rolled boilie. There are two in the range: the pure muscle and French connection and at £35 for 5kg this represents great value for money. Please see the main web page under the heading “bait”.For those of you who haven’t booked up a trip for this year, listed below are the dates we currently have left for 2011 and for those who are looking at 2012 please call Karen on 07917 701100. DEAR MEMBERS,
SINCE WE OPENED ON THE 25TH OF APRIL WE HAVE HAD 69 CUSTOMERS.
550 FISH HAVE BEEN LANDED 66 DOUBLES, 340 X 20'S, 134 X 30'S, 8 X 40'S, 2 X 50'S
ON AVERAGE CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN LANDING JUST UNDER 8 FISH A WEEK, WHICH I DONT THINK IS TO BAD CONSIDERING THAT WE ARE ONLY 2 YEARS OLD.
PROBALLY ON AVERAGE CUSTOMERS HAVE LOST 25 FISH AWEEK, WHICH I THINK IS DOWN TO OUR BARBLESS POLICY, WHICH I AM GOING TO DISCUSS WITH DRAFTY AND THE TEAM OUT OUR NEXT MEETING, MAYBE THE WAY FORWARD IS MICRO BARB. I WILL KEEP YOU ALL UPDATED ON THIS ISSUE.
IN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS THERE WILL BE AN ARTICLE IN CARP TALK, SHOULD BE A GOOD READ.
PERSONALLY I AM BLOWN AWAY WITH OUR TEAM AT CRYSTAL. WHICH IS BEING REFLECTED BY THE CUSTOMER COMMENTS AND RE-BOOKINGS, IT IS REALLY AMAZING.
MORE UPDATES WILL BE COMING SOON
MANY THANKS
LEE
