sounds very very similar to what i did tufty.........although the big gap is relatively free of debris when i checked with me marker and landing net pole  :(

thats because id pulled aload of twigs/branches back on every reel in
thats why i fished it a bit further out, ie where the old tree wouldve finished, and not because i couldnt cast that far ;)

Stew was on the bridge seeing where it was landing, and kept saying you can get another 3 rods closer, but didnt want to, as tob says if you go kerb crawling you mainly pick up the smaller fosh, :smartass: ;)

it seems alot of people fish it tight to the edge, sometimes it pays to do something alittle different from the norm, very crafty :o

Think when stumbles and jad , ect went stalking all they saw were small fish, in the margins,
doesnt take a brain surgeon then to work things out, ;)

ok maybe a bit late

left rod was put out about a rod/2 rod length away from the bush, the bit where the bay starts as it were.
middle rod was about 3-4 rod lengths off the far bank where the gap is, sent much closer and would pull in debris every time :thumbsup_anim:
right rod cast towards the first little tree/bush back from the bridge on that bank, same again about 3 rods out, any nearer would be in weed, any further be in weed.

left rod did the roaming experimenting as i thought the left and middle were to close, pressure in the same area. (very crafty)

baiting up wise, well every morning about 6ish went round and put 6-12 hand fuls of bait out scatter baiting the aeras rather than a big pile, this was thrown out as far as i could ie about 3 rods out, ohhhh what a crap thrower i am. :P

did the same before breakfast, when we came back from breakfast, well about 11ish, then again about 3, again before tea, again after tea, then again before dark. no wonder i got through the amount of bait i did

the reason for this the chats were active and i thought they will soon get through the bait so liked to keep the carps breakfast bowls, dinner plates full  , didnt want them to feel like oliver did, "please sir can i have some more"

some might say all the bait i put in wasnt necessary, i just did what i felt right at the time
maybe putting that amount of bait in held them there???????
maybe putting that amount in lessoned my chances of catching, ie 10 freebies 2 1 hook bait, is better odds than 100 freebies 2 1 hook bait????????

all i know is i was well happy with my week in there

summary

about 80kg of bait
19 fish
about 10 lost fish to snags etc
not a bad stamp of fish either
hope sept will be as good, but will probably go back to getting about 5 fish, for the week :P
back to normal then ;)

Is it me or is there a gap on the far bank where you walk to MOTL ???

If so then that makes for a interesting spot , just cast over and drop your rig in!!!!

Yes Dan, nice big gap in the trees for baiting up.

Fished this swim 19th May 2007,
Hot spots have to be small willow right hand corner cast to bank then place rig under willow.
Under bridge about 3rd pole along bridge from the left, cast on or over bridge and place by hand or clip up and cast.I found it easier to cast on bridge as i would go round to bait up anyway but it is handy to have the clip up option ready for night casting.
opposite gap in the trees again cast to bank or clip up, go round and place rig under overhanging trees,
The opposite bank close in seemed to have lots of twigs and debrees think they might of been from the work party. You have so many options in this swim, I found that some spots would go quite after a few fish so i would move that rod to another spot. The fish seem to show a lot right hand corner of the bridge but im told its very snaggy there with big bolders close in, I fished it just short of the corner and found my runs from the right hand willow stopped so i moved it.
I would say this swim is 1 of the most prolific on the complex, but if i had to pick a swim before looking, out of the 2 swims i have fished this would be my second choice
