Just got back from my 1st trip to LQ & would like to thank you for the
bits of info you gave me, I am certain they were of use.
Went with my mate Tim(Big Tim) also a 1st timer so neither of us knew
what to expect.
Tim managed to draw 18 on the coach(typical) I was more fortunate &
pulled out 4 so felt sure that I would get a good swim.
Quick recce when we got there but found it all a bit daunting.
NTC,Bear, & Shallows went so I took the Shed because it looked good, was
in the open(sun worshipper) & I had also read some good reports on the
sites.
Got loads of advice on where to cast(over the bridge,on the far bank
etc) but decided to do my own thing for a couple of days & put my baits
about 3 mtrs from the far bank where the wind was putting a nice little
ripple on the surface.
Bagged a 45lb mirror that evening resulting in me shaking with
excitement due to the fact I had never caught a fish over 20lb before.
caught 1 more on the Sunday(13lb) but then from Monday onwards things
really kicked off
Monday 5 fish. Commons of 30LB & 11LB. Mirrors
of 24LB 23 & 21LB.
Tuesday 7 fish. All Mirrors. Best fish 3 @ 27 LB
Wednesday 5 fish but my best day as I caught an 18 LB. 2 @ 24 LB.
a 41LB 12 oz & then the icing on the cake a 50 LB Mirror & all this
from a novice who had never caught a 20 before,I was in Heaven.
I didn't give a sh*t if that was it for the week as I'd exceeded my
expectation by far, the plan was just to go & not make a fool of myself.
Thursday 2 fish best 36lb Mirror.
Friday 1 fish 36 lb 8 oz Mirror.
Total for the week 22 Fish, well pleased.

To cap it all my mate Tim chose Next to Gate & caught the biggest fish
of the week a 53 LB Mirror, he had a slow week only getting 5 fish but
that included a 44LB mirror & 1 at 36 LB so he was a happy chappie as well.
We are both well aware that loads of fella's have been to LQ stacks of
times in their quest for a 50 so for us both to manage it on our Maiden
Trip was a bit special.
Thanks for the advice, We both used Mugga's to get the 50s.
Both of us are gagging to go back again but are well aware that next
time will probably be a struggle.

Some of the other guys had a strange week, NTC 10 fish on 1st day then
nothing.
Sexy's only 1 fish for the week.
Lads in the bear 7 40s in a morning.
total for the week 263 fish.
