This years trips for me have been to a couple of different places than Les Quis, One of them being Charlou, Yup never heard of the place in my life till getting a phone call from a friend and asked to fish it with 7 others on a lake exclusive deal, to include all food and 3 bait boats to share between us. With carp to over 60lb and set in unspoilt relaxing surroundings
Due to travel out on the 19th July I get a phone call on the 17th telling me that we cant have the food package because the KIDS that cook the food from the lake up the road have been told they cant cook anymore for other lakes  (this gets worse) Now the only reason i ever go into the kitchen is to get another beer, I would struggle to plug the cooker in never mind cook on it. At this point i was starting to get worried about the whole trip and considered canceling.
Panic over Nick another member of our party said he would cook and Tim would help him, OK so 1 little glitch in the trip ain't to bad we will make the most of it.
So all gear packed and ready to leave on Friday, The missus dropped me off at Corley services where Mr C would pick me up around midday, He turns up with a trailer thats a similar size to an aircraft carrier. We make our way down to Tims house in Kent where we all met up. The idea was to put all the gear of eight in the trailer and take 2 vehicles for the anglers.
We loaded the trailer with all the weight on the back  so that it would slide from side to side all the way there killing pretty much everyone that came close to it, It got so bad at one stage that i had to put my seat belt on ( I was sitting in the back of the car that was following the trailer  ) the only way to stop it from moving around so much was to travel at 45 miles an hour, we was due to arrive at around 9:00 on Saturday morning.
On arrival at the camp site at around midday we found it was closed and locked up, but after a few phone calls the site manager got out of bed to let us in. We walked around the lake but there were little to no signs of fish anywhere. Criss Dude (Camp site manager) had not a clue about any bait boats we had booked and had to go to another venue to borrow some for us. By this time we were tired moody and not very happy anglers ,but we all trundled off to our swims. Two anglers got into a dispute over what was there water to fish too and never spoke all week except for a few choice words. All this obviously made for a bad atmosphere and 1 angler separated totally from the rest of the group. The following day Criss Dude told us that THE 60+ fish died a while ago
Come Thursday we were on 7 fish between all of us  and was starting to think there had been a fish kill or something like that Criss Dude did say that for 3 or 4 months of the year through winter there was nobody there and maybe they had been stolen  .
That day we were going down the town for a meal and a few beers, I think this was because there were around 5 million wasps flying around you every time we had a meal on site, If you have seen the film swarm then your getting close to how the situation was. Mr C being the angler that was separated from the rest of us stayed at the site, When we got back he had burnt down his bivvy with all the contents in it, all that was left was a round black burnt circle of grass.
We decided to go home a day early before someone got killed, This time we packed the trailer with all the weight at the front :LMAO: so we could travel a little faster and get away from the place sooner. On the way back we got stopped for speeding going through a 30 zone at around 50. But luck was on our side and we got away with a smacked hand and a telling off.
Apart from all that it was brilliant. Will i ever go back ? NEVER not even if you payed me too
