I chose 13 and even though the swim was a bit tight I soon had it like home.
A 5lb tench before tea and the delks worked.Drafty and Mick are older but not wiser and the food was great, too much and too good and the craics mighty.
Its mainly a nigh water but we all caught during the day,I had a low 20 and a high double during the night,Jesus do they fight in the deep margins,I cant count the number of times I had 3 rods taken out by a fish.
Sunday flew by feature finding, there wher so many I got a hard on with the bar in peg 14 into 13 perfect with a weed bed down one side and gravel patches.Sunday was my only blank night but from the talk on the walkie talkies I was the only one.
I had a 19-2 Sturgeon on Monday afternoon, what can I say,its Ice Age ,big John also had one a bit different. The trip flew by laughs galore as the company was excellent and by Monday night we all agreeded to go in 2010.
Tuesday was games day and we did it French style red wine and boules with a few races thrown in,a nice touch and I still smile thinking about it,Gandalf and Drafty are a bad combination.
On wedensday morning i was making coffee at first light I had two bleeps one blue one purple the left hand rod(blue) was going into the water,I struck and a long time later with 3 rods out of the water I had a 32-12 mirror on the bank.
I thought I was fighting Ricky Hatton its something else.
Everyone had the same tales to tell of fish who would just not give up.Miles lost 5 fish in one night of 8 runs so Drafty had a rig clinic and we discussed the problem,he was using longshanked hooks, most of us where on wide gape hooks,i lost 6 fish myself before i got it right.
We ended up leaving at 2000 on the Friday night due to the fire in the tunnell as we had a lot further to go.
The place is first class very clean and everything is there to make your trip better,Drafty asked us for any improvements we could thing off,but we could not as we knew our few minor gripes where sorted.
Big John and Gandalf where great company as where our head cook and bottle washer,I ended up with 13 fish
two 30s and some 20s,I enjoyed it and will be back, enough said :thumbsup_anim:
