That's right mate, if we run a competition where people pay an entry fee, it's classed as a lottery and comes under the gambling act. Infact they are illegal lotteries unless skill is required.

This is the only way around a pay to enter competition.

Ah well, only an idea, cheers for looking into it :thumb:

Quote

Even if there is a paid route to enter, a competition will be treated as free to enter if there is an alternative free entry route, provided that:

  • the alternative route is a letter sent by ordinary post or some other communication method which does not involve payment and is no less convenient than the paid-for route;
  • the choice is publicised in a way that is likely to come to the attention of all those intending to participate; and
  • the system for allocating prizes does not discriminate between the two entry routes.

This is the only way around a pay to enter competition.

With Season 2008 drawing to its finale (unfortunately im not on the last trip of this year :ph34r_anim: ) what are the chances of reserecting the catch totals competition for 2009 Les Quis season ?

Chan / Jossybaby / Frothster / All the moderating team, what say you all ??

Remember the ongoing anticipation throughout the Les Quis year, quality :ph34r_anim:

Initial thoughts are say £20 in (via paypal, etc) and then a structured prize table, i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th, depending on numbers.

Thoughts ??
