After Commonman Stew showed me his spots where he was fishin the Hog last May I can state, with a degree of certainty I would have never considered putting a bait where he was

I cant explain why the Long has become more moody though the lack of Poison chats might have something or everything to do with it.No doubt Uncle Joss has a theory :thumbsup_anim:
Looking forward to 2010 a two year break after 10 years should make it a new challenge, there are still a couple of swims i dont like but thats down to me.
Call me stupid :thumb: but what has cutting back "Jurassic" got to do with the Long fishing well!!

Each of the lakes have approx 450 odd fish in them, and they aint all in the shed, coypu or bear. A prime example is the Hogg swim...looks like a dead end swim, shit or bust one, but the amount of pple who actually go in there and whack some proper big uns is amazing, and yet a couple of yrs ago, no one would go in there!!
Bets bit of advice you can take is....
Get to the lakes, have a walk round, have a chat with the previous weeks punters and or bailiffs, go and have a look in the catch report book...but most of all....use your fishing head and water craft...cause that will catch you far more fish than bombaring yourself with info from weeks/months/yrs gone past.

Long was moody as feck last year hence Shed not being as popular, but if Long is fishing well Shed Will do the business,If the Elf is fishing well i think it's a less swimy lake and you can do well from any of them. Firstly to me picking the right lake is the first big choice rather than having a swim on the complex in mind then try and get a swim i want.
This year could be completely different from last and the Long may be the lake to be on,who knows. Thats why i would wait ,listen, read as much as possible then base everything on what is happening.
You wouldn't plan a picnic at the beach two weeks in advanced without knowing is wasn't going to piss down all day would you :thumbsup_anim:

I wouldnt get caught up in the swim bollox...........speak to the people coming of the lakes and see whats been fishing and go from there.........i didnt do that and went for the shed which by all accounts is a great swim and i couldnt manage more than 13 fish upto 29lb.........the other swim i should have went in to after speaking to people was the one that produced......... :thumb:

But as most of the lads on this forum would say, every swim has its day. My mate fished the Hog last April and had a 52lb mirror and i know most people would not touch this swim with a barge pole but just goes to show. :thumb:
Just goes to show what personal experience tells you.
I personally have never witnessed Sexy's as a top 5 swim yet I know it can do the business.
The Hog is usually like that as well, although having said that it did throw up the biggest fish on a trip I was on late on the Friday.
Top 5 seems to be constantly changing. A few years back Point Left and Right were the swims to die for, now they are average.
At one point The Shed wasn't nothing special then it became hot, hot, hot, now it is hit and miss, same can be said for many of the other swims.
It'll be interesting to see what this years top 5 will be.

1. The bear
2. Jurassic
3. The shed
4. One of the hangers (can't remember which!)
5. Next to Coypu
Obviously this is debatable.
Are these still the top swims or would you regulars recommend any other up and coming swims?
I hear the Old lak eis producing better now that Jurassic has been cut back?

Help
