there must be something to it though.

The reason i ask. I look at the catch results of the place and see how many large feckers come out regually.

Now Ive been to LQ 4 times (although have 2 more trips booked this year :thumbsup_anim: ) and in those four trips have banked over 80 foshes which i think is not bad going .The best trip had 38 fish, another trip had 26, then 11 on one trip and 6 on another (feck me that was a cold early trip!)

The biggest fish Ive had is 40-01 and the only fish Ive had over 40lb out of there.

I know what im going to get asking this question but is that unlcuky condsidering the average size of fish in LQ or am i just a cooorrnt!!??

your just a cooooooooooooooooooooornt :Tongue:spend more time fishing than putting on hair products and you might catch more fish leading to a biggie

Really it depends on the angling situation....if you just chuck it and chance it then obviously there is an element of luck involved....if you stalking and you can see your quarry then its down to angling skill.

and yes Foxy...you are a cooooooooooornt...

lol i KNEW that was coming.

I dont care, im more than happy as I have had good trips whenever Ive been and always had decent fish.

i think its me, as the same thing seems to happen over here. Catch quite a few from my local lake but never get in amongst the 30's or god forbid either of the 40's

The last time I went to Les it was 17 fish, 8 over 30 and only two of those were doubles - but you cant go by Les stats lol!

It's wierd - i rarely catch many fish per session and have big hits (in the UK), but I seem to catch the bigger ones. Maybe it's just the way I bait, or the rigs, or swim selection. Maybe it is just luck, but then I'd rather be lucky than good, perfectly happy to be a sh*t angler that catches bigguns

lol this is quite a funny thread.

But seriously, how much of it is skill in catching bigger fish and how much of it is actually luck? i mean, you can put your rig in the right place etc but cant make the bigger ones pick up your bait!?

is it a case of wading through the smaller fish to catch the bigger ones?

There Can't be any skill involved Foxy.............................. If there was I'd Blank every trip.lol.
I mean,I'm a total novice at this game....1st 2 trips to LQ closed my eyes, chucked the rigs all over the place & caught a load of fish on Match Tackle
3rd trip last October............ Rigged out with all the Pukka carp Gear, full of knowledge learnt from the 1st 2 trips, plenty of advice from the Experts on the trip............blanked like a cooooooooooornt :thumbsup_anim:
