Nice one Colin, the place really has so much to offer, and with Matt at the helm the holidays are fantastic, love peg 1 always reckoned to be one of the best pegs I have ever fished.

Right fella's I'm back and what a fantastic week we had at Utopia probably the best week I have had in France not just for the fishing and with the guy's that where on the trip but with Matt who is just the best host and joined in with the rest of the lads with the craic all week,
The trip nearly didn't happen for me as putting the trailer on the vehicle I pulled my back out and only for being with mates and getting their help with my gear and doing the driveing I would have pulled out if it had been a LQ trip I wouldn't have couldn't have done it,
right now to the fishing I went in swim one and the guy's helped get my gear there, the bream where going mental and where constantly giveing you not just line bites but what apeared to be propper single tone runs, I had my first fish on at about 4 that afternoon which hook pulled after a couple of seconds and the nothing till after dinner when at about 7 I was getting the boat ready to take another bait out when the right hand rod ripped off, now this is realy noddy stuff in my excitment I grabbed the rod hit the run but didn't disengage the bait runner and ended up with an almighty birds nest on the spool anyway after trying to hand line the fish for the best part of 10 mins it burried its head in the weed and that was that Sh** I thought that was a good heavy fish I didnt get another run till wednesday (the bream stopped on tuesday afternoon) and I had a 26lb mirror at 4am then nothing all day the next fish was a little cat 9lb at 1am then a 23lb mirror at about 6am, there where plenty of fish topping all over the lake and there was a lot of action in swim 8 back of the lodge so I put one of my rods in there, after beakfast I went bact to my swim and was just chilling when the rod in swim 8 ripped off I was up like a rat up a drain but before I got there about 40yds Matt who was in the lodge had already hit the run (he realy is keen) he handed me the rod staight away and after a good 15min fight it came to the net a realy good thirty I thought but it went in at 43lb happy days I had nothing again all day and went to bed expecting some action in the night and I wasn't dissapointed and I had a screamer at 5.30 and after a great fight through the weed it came in at 41lb I hade no other fish but had a great week we finished with about 22 fish and everybody had fish including a couple of 30's and my brace of 40's. the weed is bad but it is certainly fishable and challangable can't wait to go back,

Its fishing really, really slow mate, even this week, a few bream out so far plus a couple of carp. Weed is really bad as well.
