previous to the above, i named it the "garden centre lake", as sometimes lake owners ruin lakes by completly over doing swims....:thumbsdown_anim:

anyway............last yr i was mincing for a social venue for me and 5 friends.............had tried to get on desire but fully booked so opted for napoloen 1 from carp dor and what a choice i made.......... :thumbsup_anim:................slap bang in the champagne region and nestled next to gigantica......charlou.........bluewater etc etc
wont bore you with the journey as it was uneventful apart from being pulled at dover by customs to check for bombs....... :smartass: :Bandit: ..............apart from that it was a breeze and the 250 miles to the venue were consumed very quickly.
we arrived at 6am...........me and my buddy paul had walked the perimeter and managed to speak to anglers in swim 2 through the fence who informed us that they had managed 5 fish for the week and only 2 had been out the week before due to spawning........this i didnt want to hear but thought it would either be sh*t fishing or good fishing............thankfully it was the latter and we will get onto that shortly.
no one is allowed on the venue before 1pm so after chatting with the guys in peg 2 we opted for a morning sleep in the steadily rising temps........19c at 6am is bloody warm and was going to be the weather for the week........HOT...... :guitar: .........1pm arrived and we was met by barry the owner who explained the usual and gave us a tour of the lake.........now i know various people that have been and all swims produce so with this in mind i let the others decide who was fishing where and i would drop in the last peg available.........all the swims are doubles and numbered 1-4......i fancied left hand side of peg 1 but after my genorosity ended up in right hand 2.....no drama as i was about 20 yrds from peg 1s margin and where i wanted to fish originally as the lake is shaped like a bow with a maximum chuck of 60yrds to the far margin..... :thumb:
carl and lee opted for peg 1............carl rh side and lee lh side.............me and gil were in 2 ........and dale and justin went into 3...........at this point we all commented on our swims.............bloody huge and very very comfortable with a timber gazebo.........fitted with a double electric socket...........pub bench and a mountain bike for trips to the loo...........happy days!!!!
bivvys up and rods out!

saturday passed and we all had a good drink ready to get fishing sunday morning which arrived and we were all raring to go......i had picked my spots and found i had 5 ft margins infront of me sloping to 12ft with over hanging trees.........great i thought.......fish holding area naturally and good deep water to move them out from under the trees........that was the plan but didnt quite work out that way..............fishing locked up and and being on the rods it didnt stop over 9 fish smashing me up in the trees..........totally my own fault as i went with 12lb line hoping to fish peg 1 and ended up with snags........ :noddy:
i got my first fish on monday but we started getting more runs as the days went on and by wed it was apparent that the feeding time was 2am to 8am and not a sniff for any of us during the day...................as a group we managed 35 odd fish with 1 x 50 and 4 x 40s and the rest 30s with a few 20's......we lost about 15 too......highlights of the trip were the casting show through the walkie talkies and my mate shitting himself whilst liffting his upper 40 for pics......... :Tears:
finishing up i will say that this venue is the dogs bollocks for socials and really has a great stamp of fish with a great average size..........timber gazebos were a god send in the 30c heat and electric was superb...............we cooked in style and take note for MAR PECHE guys.......... :smartass:
if your looking for a decent venue with good fish..............good food and faciltys with a social in mind look no further than here............... :thumbsup_anim:
